Australia offers a huge variety of paddling opportunities along its extensive and pristine coastline. Southern Sea Ventures offer sea kayak trips on the tropical north-east coast of Queensland (Hinchinbrook), to the dry west coast of Western Australia (Abrolhos Islands, Shark Bay, Ningaloo Reef) and south to wild and rugged Tasmania (Freycinet, Tasman Peninsula’s and Bruny Island). 

As Australia has a variety of climate zones we have a destination for every season. Choose to head north or west for the warm weather or stay down south for a more temperate holiday. At each destination you’ll discover amazing sea and landscapes, ancient indigenous culture and a sense of freedom in our vast wilderness, all while staying at remote campsites or secluded accommodation. 

Sea Kayak Tasmania

Our local kayak guides will introduce you to sea kayaking on the wild coastlines and tranquil bays of Bruny Island and Tasman Peninsula. Be rewarded with untouched wilderness, uncrowded beaches, craggy coastlines and unique wildlife, in the sea, on land and in the skies above. Whichever one (or two) of our lodge or base camp, sea kayak escapes you choose, the experience is sure to refresh the senses. Sea Kayak Western Australia

Western Australia is a world class sea kayaking destination with remote coastlines, stunning beaches and incredible wildlife. Join us on a paddling and snorkelling adventure in the World Heritage Site of Shark Bay, the remote Abrolhos Islands or stunning Ningaloo Reef (or all three)! On each of these destinations expect clear blue water, rugged coastlines, maritime history and wildlife to set your heart thumping; think whale sharks in Ningaloo, dugongs in Shark Bay and Australian sea lion in the Abrolhos Islands, along with a multitude of sea birds and tropical fish. Whether it’s our live aboard trips in Shark Bay or the Abrolhos Islands or a camping adventure in Ningaloo, paddlers will be rewarded with daily spectacular adventures!

Sea Kayak hinchinbrook island

Hinchinbrook Island, Goold Island and the Family Islands are continental islands located off the tropical coast between Ingham and Tully in North Queensland. With granite peaks rising 1142 metres directly out of the sea, Hinchinbrook Island is a magnificent backdrop for sea kayaking. Waterfalls, tropical rainforests, precipitous headlands, coral reefs and secluded beaches are among the island’s treasures.
