1. Encounter the mighty Komodo Dragon
Komodo National Park is the only place in the world where you can see the legendary Komodo dragons – the largest lizards on earth. Experience the remarkable opportunity to safely observe these endangered, prehistoric predators up-close, gaining insights into their remarkable survival and dominance. 2. Cross paths with Bajo Sea Gypsies
On our Remote Sulawesi Island Adventure, you may have the unique opportunity to cross paths with the Bajo people, also known as the Sea Gypsies. Renowned for their remarkable free-diving skills, the Bajo have adapted to life in and on the water like no other community. Traditionally nomadic, they live in stilt houses built over the sea and sustain themselves almost entirely through fishing and marine foraging. A potential visit to a Bajo village on this adventure could offer a glimpse into their fascinating ocean-centred culture.
3. Dive into ‘Turtle City’
Siaba Besar Island, just east of Komodo, is affectionately known as Turtle City. On our Komodo National Park Kayak and Liveaboard trip, we visit a protected bay where the sea floor is carpeted with a vibrant coral garden, flourishing in shallow waters between 4-6m deep. Here, you’re almost guaranteed to encounter Green and Hawksbill turtles, swimming gracefully among the corals.
